I have installed Gallery 1.6 that I got from your download section, onto one of my sites - http://www.gamersrfun.com and am getting a bit confused. Basically I am still going through all the tabs (too damned many imho) to configure it. But now I'm wondering is it possible to have ready-made categories that people can upload images too, for example, Animals, Cars, Babes etc, rather than everybody having their own personal albums ?

Greetings friend, thanks for stopping in! Yes most indeed you may. Once you create a category, any album (optionally all sub albums too) may be configured from the pull down menu and selecting 'Permissions' (when in album view). When in 'albums' view (or main), then click the link that says permissions. Then set permissions anyway you wish, to whomever you wish. Observe when the permissions properties window opens, the left side column should display PHP-Nuke users list.
I should include this in the documentation. I went through great pains, and research to make sure the configuration wizard is as user friendly possible, I have made it so if click every tab through to the end (only inserting password required), you should in most server configurations have a fully functional PHP-Nuke Gallery. Don't forget to reset permissions, per install instruction and you are good to go. Once more comfortable, you may run the configuration wizard anytime you wish (don't forget to read/write permission before commencing) and alter, turn features on/off, reset permissions...you name it.
That brings me to another concern you expressed, about the number of configuration wizard options. The truth is, a good gallery script with the features everyone wants, has to have a lot of functions. A second and possibly another significant issue is, server security upgrades. I have already assisted a few individuals who have server configurations requiring us to edit (albeit a snippet) some code.

Hi again DemoniC, I would at least make sure your read/write permissions are set to read. Like now, you will be left vulnerable until you complete configuration wizard and reset permission back to read only.

Hi, yes you are correct about watermarking, do not concern yourself with that right now. Albeit a very nice feature, lemme work on it or get some more input from the community.
With regards to ImageMagik...dang it! See, that is what I mentioned in a previous post, that most modern server configurations should have server side apps like that one and zip and another half dozen as standard install (and at least have them installed in the most common directory path(s)). Get with your host and request these features. As mentioned, great pains were taken to make the wizard as auto as possible. I especially left the auto detect code alone and hopefully enhanced it some more. The last half dozen clients including my current host, have had all those server side apps installed part and parcel.
Okies I'll see what I can get my host to do about those. So in the interim, what should I do about this configuration ?

Confirm that the settings you entered came through correctly. There are errors highlighted below in red which need to be fixed before you can save your settings.

Hi DemoniC, well there is a possibility that auto detect code is not working properly on your current server configuration. That said, I have attached a 'System Library's Common Path' PDF for your pleasure. Plug in a few of those paths and if the last page for configuration wizard comes up with a clean bill of health, you're golden. If not, any gallery needs one of the two image apps. You will need to deactivate the mod and write protect your files until resolved.
So how do I set the Gallery up, so it looks more like yours? That is, so it uses the theme and blocks, like a regular module does. Atm, my gallery looks like this http://www.gamersrfun.com/modules/gallery/albums.php
As I didn't realise about that link, I'll check it out now.
I must be losing the plot Kev, I didn't think of checking that url LOL. If you notice, my link was different from yours. So, looking at my link, does that mean that this module can also work as a stand-alone?
If not, then am confused as to the differences between the 2 links.
EDIT 1 - I've sussed out how to do the albums
Although I have come across an error when setting the permissions on the albums...
Quote:
Fatal error: Call to a member function on a non-object in /home/xxxxxx/public_html/core/modules/gallery/album_permissions.php on line 144
EDIT 2 - Ignore that error, that only happened once, I re-tried again and all went well. In fact I've setup 10 categories now and edited the permissions on all, with no further problems.
